Hayco Farms, the beginning…

After 10 years of marriage, having our first two of three boys, building two businesses and our forever home together our lives had gotten so full they felt empty. We were passionate about building a life we loved and once we had done the work to build it, well we didn’t “love” it. We stepped back and looked at the big picture only to find that we wanted to make major changes. Major changes that found their roots in our family garden we planted each year. The dirt, the joy, the produce, and the time together was the opposite from our overbooked schedules. It was slow to produce, it was quiet, and simple. It became our sanctuary. The joy and peace the dirt produced was just as real as the harvest each year.
That is the beginning of the farm we now call Hayco Farms LLC. Our family farm that birthed out of our desire to work along side each other, and to help other families have convenient access to real food. Real food to share around their tables, with their people. We have been blessed with the land and Jacob has been blessed with and worked for the knowledge needed to grow beautiful things. Jacob was taught to love the dirt at a young age, and to grow produce by the gentle yet rough hands of his PawPaw. As for me, well I’m a little more complicated. I have been blessed with the willingness to change. You see, I was raised in a family restaurant. Family meals were sitting at “Table 2”, and many of my childhood meals were “made to order” just the way I wanted. I can grill a mean cheeseburger and deep fry a perfectly crispy order of French fries, but I had no idea how to take simple ingredience such as zucchini and squash and turn them into a side dish. Here I am though, finding joy in knowing what I am feeding our family, and enjoying trying new things with them. We are eating what we grow, I am learning to cook, and my family’s health and quality time is improving because of it.
So, what is Hayco Farms and who are we? We are simply a family of 5 learning to slow down, eat real food, and work together to help you do the same. So, join us as we journey… we are not looking to “reach the destination” or have all the answers but to journey together and bring you along if you would like. One seed, one meal, and one choice at a time.
